Stony Mountain Child Care Center Co-op

In 1974 community members felt the need to start a nursery program for the community of Stony Mountain and incorporated as Play Penn Co-op Inc.  Over the years the program has grown and changed to meet the needs of families in the community.  In 2002, we legally changed our name to Stony Mountain Child Care Centre Co-op Inc.  Our Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Assistants are passionate, loving and warm individuals who have a solid understanding and training in child development

Our  junior kindergarten/ kindergarten program is located adjacent to the curling club, and was built by the Stony Mountain Kinsmen Club in 1985.  We are currently licensed for  22 preschool children.  We strive to provide a quality, and nurturing play based environment that meets the individual needs of each child.   Children attending Stony Mountain School will be given priority.  Our program schedule does not allow for bus drop off and pick up for Stonewall Students.

Our School Age Program/ Kindergarten program is located in the old curling club building. We are licensed for 30 school age children and 10 kindergarten children and offer before and after care, as well as summer, in-service and summer break full time care.

Our Infant program is located in our Stony Mountain Child Care Center East program.  We are licensed to care for 20 infants ages ( 8 weeks- 2 yrs).  This program opened in April 2019.  and  has 2 rooms which can provide care for 8 infants in one program and 12 in the other.  

 

Our Preschool program is located in the same facility with our infant program.  We are licensed to care for 32 preschool children ages 2yrs- 4 years.  The programs location makes it an easy transition for our infant children as they turn 2 years, when they can join the older children in play.
